Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious was born John Simon Ritchie in 1957. He was born in London to John and Anne Ritchie and shortly thereafter, his father abandoned him. Sid Vicious died from an overdose of heroin in 1979.

Sid Vicious was only 22 years old when he died from an overdose of a drug that his mother, a drug dealer by trade, gave him in celebration of his making bail for the charge of murder. The autopsy that the coroner performed on Sid Vicious showed that the heroin was 85% pure when most heroin at that time was only 5% pure.

No one will ever know if Sid Vicious actually committed the murder for which the New York court charged him because Sid Vicious does not remember whether he killed his girlfriend or if he did not. He and his girlfriend were staying in a New York hotel when Sid Vicious awoke to find his girlfriend stabbed to death.

Some people speculate that Sid Vicious purposefully overdosed on heroin as a form of suicide. Either way, it would seem that the death of Sid Vicious was suicidal.

The fact that Sid Vicious was likely a murderer is probably not the reason that you have heard of Sid Vicious. Sid Vicious was a singer and a member of the band The Sex Pistols.

The Sex Pistols were a punk rock band that recorded many hit records. According to most reports, Sid Vicious did not contribute much to the Sex Pistols. Sid Vicious was an abysmal bass player and his job in the band was bass player.

While Sid Vicious had served as drummer for the previous bands with which he played and while he had been a solo artist and decent singer in his past, The Sex Pistols already had a drummer and lead vocalist so Sid Vicious could not have either of those roles.
